When my daughter was two, my wife and I traded our timeshare for a condo near the sea in Fuengirola and spent a four-day holiday there. I’ll never forget sitting out on the veranda, sipping sherry and eating green olives stuffed with anchovies as we watched the sun shimmer off the Mediterranean.

It is a beachy place with a fun and scandalous nightlife and beaches to relax on all day. Lots of creeps though but it is a terrific spring break / beach-week place to go. Easy not to sleep depending on where you stay. Torromolinos is the most active.
