It is a very peculiar place, surreal, but don’t expect to make a day out of it. Also, unless you go in good weather, one look is enough, as it is very exposed.

and ended up staying an entire day. Even though there were other people crawling around the place, it’s still surprisingly peaceful. Sitting there in awe of these rare formations is one of my fondest memories of Ireland (and there seem like there a millions of memories for that trip).

Give yourself plenty of time! There is a bus (for a fee) that takes you down the hill but after that, you’ll be hoofin’ it. The shops and lunchroom are extremely crowded so I wouldn’t recommend you spend much time there. There’s an informative film that will acquaint you with the area; it’s worth the cost. In any case, I would pack a lunch and make a day of visiting this beautiful place! Wear comfy shoes and have a wonderful visit. :)
