to the brothers who made this park… I’ve been there once in the summer, in the fall and in the winter. The next time I go has to be spring!! It really is an amazing place to spend a day :)

This is one of our national treasures. The fountains, the lights at Christmas, the resource for gardeners, the ballroom and conservatory are all superb. If you ever get the chance, make sure to see the fireworks (offered 4 times per year).
For those who live close, you really need to see it in all 4 seasons. And, make sure to see Winterthur, too, for a different DuPont take on large scale landscaping!

If you’re a fan of botany (flowers, palm trees, cactuses, bonsai trees), then definitely stop here. Even my boyfriend enjoyed this place. The mansion of Pierre Du Ponte also has a gorgeous sun room, and they have some pretty lights strung up around the holidays.
There’s only one downfall: overpriced, mediocre cafeteria food.

Attended an office Christmas party at the Terrace Restaurant in Longwood Gardens last night. Several of us went a couple of hours early to walk around. All the trees were lit up and we were able to catch one of the dancing fountain shows. While it was no Bellagio, it was still very pretty and cool to see. The Conservatory had a Christmas walk and was decorated to the nines. It was really excellent to see all the exotic plants and we surrounded by lush foliage in December! They have everything you can imagine: bougainvillea, bonsai, a room full of roses, snapdragons, poinsettia, orchides… There are fountains and decorated trees and it was delightful to experience.
I understand that the gardens are beautiful in all seasons. There are different displays and the fountains are more active in warmer weather. The gift shop is very nice but the restaurant was nothing special.

I have now finally visited Longwood Gardens. I went there on Saturday night to view the light show just in time for the holidays. The indoor gardens were breath-taking, the lights were lovely, and I even got to see the fountain display!

I’ve been here twice, both times in April when the fountains were dry. I’d like to go back and see the water shows that they have—sounds impressive. But even with the fountains dry, there was so much to see—gorgeous flowers and plants of all varieties. We spent the better part of a day there and took loads of pictures. I’ve heard it’s also beautioful at Christmas time, too.
