Swimming with marine life by lgerardI’ve been to a lot of beaches in the world, but the most impressive were in Fiji and Australia—especially Byron Bay. If you like swimming in the ocean, no place is more idyllic than here. The water is crystal clear, deep, the surf is fantastic for swimming and surfing, and you will find that many animals will enjoy swimming along side you (mosly dolphins). The beach is wide and clean, and unlike a lot of tourist destinations, no one will try to sell you stuff. The town itself is easygoing and the folks that hang out there are very friendly. My friend and I stayed at a hostel there that was mere blocks from one beach—I forget the name, but it was clean and we had the place mostly to ourselves. I would definitely go back in March, as the conditions were perfect (in my opinion). Highly recommended!!!!! over 5 years agoByron Shire...Something for everyone by ChalkyI lived in the Byron Bay area for 12 years. It truly has something for everyone. Keep in mind that most people only stop in Byron Bay itself, whereas the surrounding area is where most of the beatiful spots are located. I strongly recommend renting a car as there is virtually no public transport. If you love pristine beaches, drive to Broken Head and turn down Seven Mile Beach Rd. There are incredible beaches located there with rainforest going all the way down to the shore. Also, drive out to Minyon Falls, Wanganui or Protestors Falls to walk through the most amazing forests. If, however, you want to dine, drink and party, Byron Bay is the place to be. over 5 years agoSee all 15 entries |
