I like here, like snorkeling, more like the warm people. It’s a wonderful place to relax.

ok. i realise it’s hollywood. but… ‘the beach’ (trippy movie with leonardo dicaprio) was set and filmed here. and everything, the jungles, the mountains, ..the hidden beaches/islands:) looked pretty insanely amazing.
..
yeh. that actully is the basis on why i’m going. ;)

Hands down the most beautiful islands I have ever visited. We went during peak season first week of January is it was totally awesome. The cliffs all around and the crystal clear water is totally paradise. The water around is excecllent for snorkelling or scuba diving and right next to Maya Bay (ie where “The Beach” was filmed. The island itself is meant for those who just want to lay back and sip on some drinks, and there is only one spot to do any shopping or clubbing. But man is this place sweet!

Most people when they visit Ko Phi Phi only go for a day trip form Phucket. I recommend that you stay at least a night on one of the small resorts( very inexpensive). This place is paradise. I actually stayed at a resort called Paradise Resort for $30 a night and it was amazing. The most relaxing and scenic areas in Thailand

Long Beach on Koh Phi Phi Don, looks out onto the smaller island. Could have set on that beach forever…

Because I want to have another vacation in Thailand, but spend it on the Andaman side this time. Bars, sex and scuba diving do not interest me, so I am hoping to find there a quiet and unspoiled equivalent of Ko Tao, with maybe a bit bigger tidal waves.

I had been to Thialand before, but I went back by myself on business. After I finished my work, I decided to go scuba diving on the weekend. There were five of us on the tour. The four other people were two American Military men stationed in Korea, and their girlfriends. They were very nice to me. We left the hotel and went out to Phi Phi island where we changed from the big boat to a small wooden boat for diving. It let us go into the harbor and around the smaller areas where a big boat couldn’t fit. We made several dives and the last one was a guided dive around an outcropping of rock that let us come swimming through an arch in the underwater geography and the guide took our pictures. What I loved the most, was the time I spent on the beach watching the children playing in the water. It was fun to snorkel in the shallows, too. The funny part was how difficult it was for three Asian men to try and hoist a large American woman (that’s me), in heavy diving gear, into the small wooden boat; two men in the boat pulling under my arms and one man in the water pushing—you can guess which part of my anatomy was the part being pushed—good thing I was wearing a wet suit…I can hear those three men complaining over beers after the day was over…”I like my job, but those American women with large behinds make us earn our money!!” LOL

Not worth it!
when i went we went to the beach made famous from the film of the same name. it certainly wasn’t paradise – it was full of boats kicking shit up off the ocean bed.
on top of that it was full of dodgy bastards spun out on drugs
in my opinion if you want a real bit of thailand stay in bangkok, it may be polluted but the people are much more genuine

My favourite place in all of Thailand. It was so badly affected by the tsunami, but it is still beautiful and they continue to rebuild. Definately take at least a day trip here if your around the Phuket/Krabi area. Snorkelling was fantastic.
