Why I want to go to this place  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

It’s Amoeba and I’m a music junkie. Do I really have to say any more than that?

A review of this place: this place rocks!  — 1 year ago

Thank you Antonio! this music store is so awesome it can almost be overwhelming. anything and everything you could want and then some. You could spend a week in there before you got close to getting close to browsing through all the music. Even better is their music catalog that lets you scan in the barcode of an album and listen to it before you buy it! rock on!

pay your rent first before visiting  — 1 year ago

If you love music and are in SF, then you have to go to Haight-Ashbury for all the cool record shops. Among them, you must hit Amoeba. Until they opened Amoeba in SF, Berkeley’s shop was the place to go. Now you must visit both sides of the bridge. If you drive, finding a place to park can be hell. Even if you end up parking illegally and get a ticket, it is worth it for the record shopping in the area. (Tip: do not park at McDonald’s!) My only advice before you go is to make sure you pay up your rent first. Otherwise, you’re liable to wipe out your bank account on the killer finds. Or maybe that’s just me. And if your friends are not into music as much as you, go alone. Wait, take them with you! You will need extra hands to carry all that new music you just bought!

A tip I have about this place  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

From the Embarcadero take the N-Judah Muni to Church; then it’s three blocks north to Haight and a couple of blocks west to Amoeba Music.

Go with a shopping list and stick to it; this place is so big that if you go and just browse you’ll drown in all the visual stimuli.
