It boggles my mind how a man without any formal architectutral training built these sculptures that have withstand time and the earthquakes of California. What could have possessed this man to build his “Nuestro Pueblo” for 33 years? Is this what is called passion? Simon Rodia’s calling in life? To built this art single-handidly with the tallest tower standing at 99 1/2 feet. I enjoyed the tour of the towers. The colors are so varied and the materials used were ingenous. I loved taking the photographs of the tower of the hearts in particular, it just speaks to me of true love of what he was creating. This man had a sense of purpose. Did he listen to his inner self, that voice that beckons us if we only listen? over 6 years ago |
