I am inspired by the architecture of the ancient ones and the way they built with the earth and related everything to the Sun and Moon. On a larger scale the way they oriented this place with other places like Mesa Verde. I was there on a solsctice day when several puelos played their drums and danced. It was powerfull.

Chaco Canyon is a truly amazing place. You have to travel by a long dirt road to get into the place, but once you get there it is definitely worth it.
There is a stillness to the place that I’ve never found anywhere else in the world.
The ruins are incredible. There is little to compare standing in one of the courtyards and imagining what the place must have been like when it was brimming with life.

I love Chaco Canyon. It’s off the beaten path, so it is quiet and peaceful.

I’ve been three times and find it most enchanting at sunset. Most of the park is empty and you can imagine what it must have been like when the culture was thriving. It’s almost as if you can hear the sun setting. Last time I was there, there was a chorus of coyotes howling as the sun was setting. It was electrifying.

I love the remoteness of the park, it is what makes it special. If you can try and go on the solstice, it is amazing to see the light hit on the kivas!

If you have even a remote interest in early civilizations, you have to go to Chaco. This place is just amazing.
