Timbuktu

It’s been a goal since I heard the name in an old Bing Crosby & Bob Hope movie. It sounded so exotic (keep in mind I was watching a 1930s film in the 1970s).

I really want to say I’ve been to Timbuktu. I don’t care what’s there or how difficult it is, I want to go.

As for directions, I think you turn right at BFE and keep going straight.

나의 삼촌은 이 장소를 한 번 방문하고 그는 그와 저에게 다음 시간을 걸리고 약속했다.

나는 나가 이 장소에 이제까지 그것을 만드는 경우에 수필을 쓰고 여기에서 간행할 것이다.

Timbuktu is amazing, although not quite its former glory. The desert is beautiful as are the people.

Doesn’t everyone want to say they have been here and back…i don’t care how over used this reason is I want to use it too…

So I can say I went from here to Timbuktu!!! (and back) Oh yeah, like that’s never been done before!!!

From my rooftop I watched a round moon rise over a minaret in the desert. In the courtyard below a Griot was playing guitar. He sang in a dusty voice, like a man from the desert should.

It was perfect. But for one thing… I was alone. Nobody would remember but me.

I like to travel, and have a pretty good knowledge of the world, but I have to admit that I didn’t actually know where Timbuktu was until recently. It’s just one of those “far off” sounding places that people might bring up in conversation without actually knowing where it is. Which is why I think it would be cool to visit.
