The home of patriotism, Hawthorne, Thoreau, Emerson and Alcott. Don’t miss Walden Pond, the Manse and Orchard House! Go, true life is waiting for you!

It’s cool just knowing where the men stood and where fires were shot. But, jeez, when I went it was soooo cold!!!

Lovely historical town. Visited in 1995. Also used it as a starting point to cycle into Boston along the trail through the minuteman national historical park to Lexington then on the minuteman commuter bikeway.

Biked to Walden Pond from Wellesley; it’s too full of tourists, but if you can walk away from the beach and get pretty far into the woods, you can find a few quiet moments.

Concord is my hometown. I love it and if you’re interested in american history—the revolution and the 19th century transcendental movement—you should go. Walden Pond is a great place to go swimming and there are lots of trails for walking and running. there’s only one bar in concord proper, and that’s the colonial inn, which has been there since the 18th century. Minuteman National Park is one big trail through woods and meadows—also a great place for walking or running.

If you’re interested in birds, there is also the Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge.

and while it has changed a lot since then, the history of the town is amazing. Walden Pond, the Orchard House (home of the Alcott family), and the Old North Bridge just to name a few. It’s a beautiful little town.
