Peabody Essex Museum

The house from China is really wonderful, if you are interested in Chinese houses. The entry is timed (they allow a small group of people to enter at specific times) so if you are coming particularly to see the house, check the museum website ffor times and tickets.

I’m a bit biased being a Salem resident but the museum is absolutely gorgeous since they’ve redone it. I’ve gone to see the actual exhibits a few times, (usually when visitors are up), and it’s definitely one of the authoritative museums on maritime history.

This is a great place, along with all of Salem, from the places involved with the “witch” trials, to the maritime history, The House of Seven Gables, and Salem Willow Park/Beach. The whole city
is quite remarkable.
