I lived on Queens Ave in New West. The Moonraker Pub was my favourite local hangout.

My Hometown  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

I was born and grew up in New Westminster. 2nd generation to live in Sapperton, a section of New Westminster. My parents both grew up in the same neighbourhood that I did, in fact I grew up in the same house my mom did (it’s the one in my picture). I don’t live there right now, but get very homesick for it. New Westminster is a very friendly place to visit and live. Everything is within walking distance and we have a great transit system. The heritage in New Westminster goes back into the late 1800’s. Walking through parts of New Westminster you can see a lot of homes that have plaques on them which state the date the house was built. New Westminster Quay is a great place to visit for shopping, cup of coffee and the Casino. I think of it as the gem of the Fraser River. Named by Queen Victoria and the first capital of BC, it is a place to mark on your to-do and visit list. We also have the world’s tallest Tin Soldier.

Visit New West  — 3 years ago

    Worth visiting!

I was born in New West. It is a neat place to visit if your spending a bit of time in the lower mainland. New West holds alot of history, part of the town burnt down in the early 1900’s, it has since rebuilt and is an interesting place to see. The Quay, along the river is an experience. With a market, offering out door dining, a river boat casino, and a great board walk, the Quay is a decent place to check out if your in the area. New Westminster holds lot of interesting heritage homes around Queen’s park.

    a suburb, a separate city  — 3 years ago

    Worth visiting!

I like the slowly renewing shabby downtown core of this Vancouver suburb. Worth investigating more, I think….
