stayed at the westin...during a hurricane  — 1 month ago

    Worth visiting!

my boyfriend and i brought his parents down who had never left the usa. we figured it would be pretty tame. well… we got there a day before a pretty big hurricane hit. we were stuck in the room for a few days while it passed. nevertheless, the resort which is not typically my kind of thing was fantastic! we rented a jeep and went driving up the coast which i loved. the actual town is really geared for americans, so it was kind of gross. i liked getting off the beaten path. the snorkeling wasn’t great b/c of the storms, but it was still lovely. dinner in town at ‘mi casa’ was really wonderful, a bit pricey though.

If you are into going where all the tourists go, then this place is for you. Everything is overpriced. Food, drinks, hotels etc..etc..Not my cup of tea or tequlia for that matter. I’d rather stick to the smaller towns and villages.

Stay in the Marina, near all the action. Its not loud, but you can walk everywhere, and do whatever you want whenver you want.
My favorite place in Mexico, but I hate all the big all-inclusive joints. I like doing my own thing, so Cabo works well.

Possibly the worst vacation I've ever been on. Summer '06.  — 6 months ago

    Not worth it!

I didn’t want to go in the first place, but you can’t really argue with my mother when she has her heart set on something. We were in the airport for over fourteen hours waiting for an open flight, and it went downhill from there. A hurricane, Rick being an asshole, being bored constantly because, SURPRISE!, I don’t like beaches or hot weather and I was stuck in Mexico for a week.

I would like to go to Mexico again, as it was quite beautiful. Hopefully when I’m older, with friends instead of my mother and her boyfriend, and to someplace that isn’t such a fucking tourist trap.

This place has gotten crazy busy & is quite Americanized but the beaches we beautiful & the sun so warm. It was a wonderful winter escape from the gray northwest.
A few pointers: There are tons of time share vendors in the airport, if you have a ride waiting then keep walking toward the exit until you or truly outside in fresh air. I like to stay on the ocean side of Cabo , It’s quiet, wide open beaches for long walks & shops are just 15 min. away.

I went to Cabo in Oct 07 for a friend’s wedding. The wedding was at the Hilton Los Cabos, where we also stayed. AMAZING!!! Spectacular views of the ocean, beach is very spacious and not crowded at all. Rooms were very impressive and clean. Drinks and food were a little expensive as well as the rides into town, but plan ahead and you should be fine. There’s also stores nearby to stock up on snacks if you want to go that route. Otherwise, the fish tacos are tasty at the resort!

Great place to be if you can avoid the tourist traps. Stay on one of the 3 hotels next to lover’s beach, on the pacific side. Very pretty.

How this place changed my life  — 11 months ago

Imagine the roaring crash of waves upon the sand and rocks. Imagine a sun setting into the waves of an endless ocean. Imagine sandy beaches and scenery to feed the romantic spirit. That is what Cabo San Lucas is to me. While I only spent a day there it still somehow became my sanctuary. It is a place I run to in my mind when I don’t want to face the reality in front of me.

I can still feel the warm salty air brushing against my cheek and I can still hear the meloncholy song of the waves as they glide away in bursts of bubbles from the shore. I can still smell the perfume that the ocean wears especially for me and I can still taste the juicy heat that falls like dew drops from the sky.

It is my place to mingle with the friendly fish and lean my head upon the understanding sand. It is the place where nature knows me, loves me and is glad to see me once again.

Five of us stayed at the Westin Regina and it was a blast. This resort location is by far better than the other Westin locations. The only draw back is all the rocks in the ocean keep you from swimming. Other than that its perfect!
