Worth visiting!
I took a short backpacking trip with 4 friends, to fly fish and camp by the river near Humes Ranch. We had a beautiful hike along the river valley past Goblin’s Gate (which would have been a great swimming hole if it was 20 degrees warmer), Michael’s Cabin and Humes Ranch (two abandoned homesteads; read the descriptions posted there to learn about the previous occupants). The woods were full of thumping grouse, and we followed a confused and gullible baby bunny down the trail for a few yards. We camped in the soft sand by the river and roasted hot dogs with the sound of nighthawks buzzing around us. It didn’t even matter that we didn’t catch any fish.
