I went in the Eye!
When I was in London last year, I didn’t go in the Eye because I figured it was too expensive. BUT, when an unexpected trip to London came up, I decided this was something I want to do. I mean, how many times will I be in London? Not only did we go, we paid extra for the express tickets. We didn’t want a once in a lifetime experience to be a bad one. The regular ticket line was sooo long, and we were jetlagged and hungry. So, the express tickets were what we wanted, and I don’t regret it. We went right up into the Eye, got some great views and pictures of London, and then it was all over after about a half hour. It’s really worth doing maybe just once unless you’re really afraid of heights.

A tip I have about this place
I’ve only been once, quite a while ago but it is definitely worth it. Try to research what time sunset is and plan it so that you’re at the top of the Eye when it happens. You watch as the sun sets over London – it’s pretty remarkable.

I went here a while ago but it was great, though I’d love to go back at night as when I went it was the middle of the afternoon. I’d definitely recommend it as one of the sights to see if you ever visit London!

A new perspective at night
I visited the London Eye in the evening not long after it opened – not by design, we just left it a bit late to book our advance tickets! The first surprise is that the Eye doesn’t actually pause to let people get into the pods – it’s moving so slowly that there’s time for you to get on whilst it rotates.
The second was how completely different my hometown looks at night. There were the obvious viewpoints – the Canary Wharf tower twinkling in the east, the beautifully lit Houses of Parliament and Big Ben below. We were puzzling over an imposing building further downstream on the opposite bank and decided that it must be a previously unknown museum. It turned out to be Charing Cross station. Oops!

A tip I have about this place
Although you have a great view of London, I would say that your money and time is much better spent on a cruis up the Thames.. It was a 3 hour wait to get on…
