Gatineau

I visited this place several times during my trip with Encounters With Canada. My favourite excursion was when we walked from downtown Ottawa past the lit up Parliament buildings and across the bridge at night in the rain. Also visited Gatineau/Hull to see the Museum of Civilization. Awesome.

The Hull entries are longer than the Gatineau one. This place is only really worth it for visitors and Ottawans alike because of:
A) The Gatineau Hills and the natural landscape on this side of the Ottawa river (this includes skiing, cottaging, and other outdoors activities)
B) The Museum of Civilization
C) The Casino du Lac Leamy
D) The fact that 18 year old Ontario teenagers can drink and “club” in Quebec.
Many people live here though and there are many government buildings here. If the above appeals to you, Hull/Gatineau is your place!

Well, it’s not actually called Hull anymore, it’s Gatineau. But the city part isn’t particularly nice—get out of town and go to the Gatineau Hills.
