Urban Vines

I got a “porn bag” … their words, not mine … to carry my admittedly salacious bottle of wine and port home tonight. Clearly, I have been living under a rock because I have never heard that term before (for an opaque plastic bag to hide your quality erotica from people who just don’t get it). They disclaimed any previous knowledge of the dirrrtiness of the bags; all their suppliers said was that they could hold two bottles of wine. Uh, huh.

I like a shop that fills a niche and nothing more. Urban Vines is a tiny little shop that sells premium wine and beer and assorted little tidbits of foodstuffs. It’s a welcome addition to the little commercial corner of the Mount Baker neighborhood. I went there once with Lee and his lovely wife for a beer tasting and was quite pleased with the atmosphere and the friendly folks who run the place. I should make a point of stopping by more often.
