As a little kid, my grandparents would take me here sometimes to stay with my grandmother’s aunt. She had a cozy house like right near the sand. Things are really different these days, but my grandparents said it was a piece of Paradise back in the 50s and 60s.

Yesterday, I went to the boardwalk and as I was riding some ridiculously fast ride I realized just how many different types of people there were just hanging out there. Santa Cruz really attracts and accepts all kinds of different people. And I give them kudos for that.

This is the Spring Break destination of the West Coast. It is worth the time and the trip.

So what kind of activities you ask?
-biking in the Santa Cruz woods under the shady trees
-walking around downtown and checking out the shops
-secluded picnic at the backyards of $2-4+ million dollar homes
-surfing (I don’t surf.. besides, the water is too cold for me)
-restaurant eating with gorgeous views like Crows Nest and romantic Shadowbrook
-this is a beachtown.. use your imagination!

Not so in love with the pier and the boardwalk but loved Santa Cruz in every other way.
Great chocolate shop, swimming pool, steaming in winter, weak sun making a half arsed effort at warming one’s body. Harley shop – spend ages there. Coffee shops galore to read and sip within. Good friends live there. Saw Jackson Browne there. Fell in love with Kinkos there LOL

A lil over touristy for me but the ocean surf town vibe is great.
