It’s beautiful! It’s amazing to see that many different ecosystems all so close to eachother… There are the mountains, the temperate rain forests, the regular forests, the beaches… I deffinately need to go back.
... But watch out for Banana slugs.

is the best word I can think of to describe this place. I went during the summertime and the experience was just wonderful! I would not recommend visiting in the winter; it’s probably very rainy and dreary like Seattle (but even more so, since it’s actually a rainforest!)

I grew up in the Olympic National Forest. I love it more than any place in the world. I highly recommend a trip to Lake Crescent, Marymere Falls, Olympic Hot Springs, Tongue Point, Olympic Game Farm, the Dungeness Spit, Hurricane Ridge…ah, just too much good stuff to get done all in one trip.

There are all kinds of great things to see in Olympic National Park. My boyfriend and I did the deal where you stay in a different lodge every night (Sol Duc, Lake Quinalt, and Kalaloch) and you get a free hat, mug, and breakfast. The lodges were all pretty good. Sol Duc was nothing fancy and didn’t even have a radio, so it’s kind of boring, but good if you’re trying to get away from everything. The other two were a little closer to your standard hotel, although they still have that getting away from it all feeling thanks to the lack of television. Lake Quinalt has hot springs, but we decided it was too crowded for us. They did have more vegetarian options at the restaurant and deli than the other lodges did. I liked Lake Quinalt the best because it had a game room with pinball, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the Arcade Game, and ping pong. After a few days of hiking you start to want that kind of entertainment. Within the park there are plenty of beaches, trails, and giant trees to visit. Be prepared to do a lot of walking and climbing, particularly if you want to get very far on the beaches, which are littered with giant logs. There are some pretty impressive waterfalls too.
