Beloit

Last weekend in October was beautiful> we set out with a baggie full of change for the toll roads in IL,the dog in the back seat and drove for 4.5 hours to fly in a glider. It really was better planned than that but not by much. I’d never been to Beloit before to do anything, only to drive through. I must say that they have a good though small famers market.We got some Koli Rabi,sweet potatos,and some buckwheat honey , all yummy stuff.The hotel allowed my dog to stay(for a fee)but thats better than a kennel.
The Soaring was really good, my MR. caught an updraft from a burning ditch, it was the highlight of his year to that point. The soaring field is the only one in the 5 state area,so that is why we went. We had a very good breakfast at a diner at the crossroads just over in South Beloit IL.If it wasn’t for having to get home we probably would have done more exploring,
Anyplace different is always fun.

for Christmas i purchased a 1 hour piloted glider ride for my Wonderful MR. he already does the hot air ballon thing once a year. he refused parachuting not even going to think about it. but….. a glider ride is perfect. he is such an airplane freak. since we live close (7 miles) from the airport he attempts to be stopped at the major intersection just so he can see planes come in and land. silly man but I love him and a glider ride is perfect….. the airport in beloit wisconsin is the closest place they offer this so beloit it is. he will get 2 hours of pre flight then up he goes one mile high and then slowly back down. i guess they set the pilot behind you and you can take the controls if you want. I will NOT be going up thank you very much i will be going to Library land or shopping while he is “up there’ I know that it will be like when he is done , he will talk about it for months and months but what i wait for is the look on my mans face when i greet him back on terra firma, it will be a look of pure happiness i am sure and to see that look on the face of one you love is so precious. that is why beloit is on my list.

I wish there was an in-between rating. There are parts of Beloit that are quite pretty, especially along the river. However, part of it is dumpy and depressing.

I went to college here. I suppose that doesn’t count, but I lived in Beloit for four years of my life. It’s a town recovering from an economic depression, and it’s becoming beautiful. And it’s a great location, being close to Madison, Milwakee, and Chicago. Ok, so this about my college experience. It doesn’t change the town any.
