Go to Divide Creek – it’s one of only two North American rivers (the other is the Chagres River in Panama) that drains into both the Atlantic and the Pacific.

lake o'hara by stagger

The Lake O’hara region is not to be missed. It’s on the “other side” of Lake Louise. Unfortunately, due to its popularity, the number of people in the area is limited, so one has to make reservations to take a bus up from the trailhead (and for a campsite up there if you wish to stay) or just show up there and hope for extra space. This slight hassle is worth it, though, as IMHO the area is pretty outrageous, even for the typical stunning scenery of the Canadian Rockies.

There are plenty of hikes in the area. if you are up for it I recommend the Alpine Circuit which left me pretty speechless. It does not require any equipment (or scrambling really) unless the weather is bad or there is snow on the route, but it is a bit strenuous.
