there are several brazilian grocery stores where you can get wonderful imported food, as well as a place that sells organic brown rice. nearby shiojiri also has an organic whole-foods bakery and cafe, in the woods just outside of town. there used to be – maybe still is? – a tasty indian restaurant near the train station; great tasting food, but a little (cough) cockroach problem.
