To be honest  — 1 month ago

    Worth visiting!

like other peeps below, I actually came over purely for the ferry ride so that I could admire the waterfront from afar. Stunning!

But we did while away a couple of hours in Winslow, sitting outside and enjoying a leisurely coffee and cake. It all seemed very peaceful and a world away from the bustling city.

Going to this Island never gets old. The ferry ride from Seattle is always fun and the views from anywhere along the shoreline of Bainbridge are gorgeous. This place has tremendous beauty.

But good luck trying to afford living in any of these $1 million plus homes near the water!

How this place changed my life  — 11 months ago

    Worth visiting!

My eldest brother lives on the Island and I just love visiting. It’s so beautiful and I adore the little bookshops and coffee klatches and such. Real small town charm, but the people are cosmopolitan. There are great places to hike and the air seems really clean. I could definitely live there.

A review of this place: it's quite nice to visit and drive thru  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

my friend and i have taken the ferry over there and gone to poulsboro a few times over the past couple of years and it’s nice…there is a park and beach that are really nice (a little complicated to get to cuz the signs are hard to see and find) but totally worth it to go spent a day there and drive or walk around….go do it during the summer on a nice day and take the ferry from seattle to there…quite a nice ride if i do say so..

    Not worth it!

a suburb with a ferry. Not all that different looking than the other further out Seattle suburbs.

My home.  — 3 years ago

    Worth visiting!

Living in Seattle for 14 years, I often ran into people from Bainbridge Island. Gradually a few of my friends moved there as well. I have to say I was suspicious and sometimes my eyes rolled back when I heard the standard answer “We just love it over there”. My wife being one of the native of Bainbridge Island was hesitant to even consider living there. O, boy how wrong we were. We are one of those now who say: “we just love it over there”. Our kids approached the school age and the fact that Bainbridge has one of the best schools in the state was the big tipping point for making the move there.
Get on the ferry in downtown Seattle and in 35 minutes you will be in a different world. The ferry ride back is free, so I would suggest this trip to any visitor to Seattle. You will be able to see Seattle, maybe even Mount Rainier and of course Olympic Mountains from the water. A little 5 minutes walk from ferry terminal will get you into downtown of Winslow full of small shops. Rent a bicycle in Seattle and explore the beaches and parks of Bainbridge. The roads are quiet and empty. As I said, it’s a different world which is awaiting for you once you leave downtown Seattle.
