Not worth it!
My paternal grandmother grew up here. She and her sister had the good sense to leave town and get married when they could while her two brothers stayed and prospered. The town was probably quite nice back in the 20’s and post-WWII. My dad certainly has fond memories of spending summers there. But my visit, some years ago, didn’t leave a good impression. Maybe it was the heat and the dusty red earth. Or maybe it was the jar full of rock candy that made me sick as a dog. Or maybe it was the creepy old auntie who never left her house nor opened the curtains. But the place just seemed past its prime, if you know what I mean.
