A review of this place: Beach/St Kilda Festival  — 1 year ago

    Not worth it!

I went to the St Kilda beach last Saturday, it was quite pleasant. Waves aren’t great, and I suspect that on a hotter day it would be unbearably crowded. Overall though, I liked it. No needles sighted.

Then, last night, I went to the St Kilda festival. The market stalls weren’t greatly impressive and the food selections paled in comparison to the Queen Victoria Night Markets (which is walking distance from my house.). But after sunset, a latin band, some German (huh?) didgetrance artists, and firetwirlers/various stoned dancey people got going. It went down verynicely with a beer on the grass.

I spent a short time in Cargo on the jetty watching a Latin band, but it was too crowded to do what you’re supposed to do in such a situation – dance like a crazyperson. Everyone was just standing around watching, so the ambience just wasn’t there.

St. Kilda al fresco!  — 2 years ago

Oh! What is there NOT to like about St. Kilda? The al fresco dining, the beach, Luna Park…it’s got it all! Definitely one of the best places in Melbourne to visit. GO!

needles with character  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

Not the world’s prettiest beach but it’s got character and history. The last time I was there I had told it had been done up but I still saw needles on the beach. It had nice organic food. It’s the place where the trendy tv show ‘The Secret Life of Us’ was set. At some point it had a Luna Park but I have a feeling it was shut down. Oh and I think the band the Cat Empire are from here too.

One of the most popular beaches in Melbourne  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

IF you get bored of sitting in the sun and staring at the amazing sun set, there are restaurants and lots of shopping around on Fitzroy St and Acland St…A must visit!!!!!

Try the pancakes at Greasy Joe’s or step into a cosy drink fest in the Vineyard…lots to fill you in one day. Or rent a bike or roller blades and ride along the bike lane and check out the beautiful coast. The bike trail goes all the way to Frankston. So if you are up for it, ride all the way…it’s beautiful.
