Mammoth Cave

It is an amazing place to see. Words can not describe what an awe-inspiring place this is. If you are claustrophobic this place is not for you!

I didn’t like how the guide seemed to rush us. You couldn’t lag behind because while one person was turning the lights on ahead of the group another was turning them off behind us. I couldn’t get any good photos.
You could choose different tours. I forget which one we chose, but I HATED the entrance. It was soaking wet stairs with a cold, wet and slick metal handrail. The stupid stairs felt almost vertical and there was a pit (or something like it) fairly close the bottom
Very, very bad when you have a fear of heights. Other than that I loved it.

Be prepared to do a lot of walking!
It is well worth the time to explore this cave. Take a tour, and take your camera!

Yes its pretty year round. But if you get the chance go in October and november.

I have never been to Kentucky, and I would really like to. While I hope to go to Louisville, I really want to go to the Mammoth Caves. My favorite movie as a child was Tom Sawyer (the 1973 version, with Jodie Foster), and I have loved caves since then. Might as well see the biggest cave system in the world.
