Middle-earth aka: Middle Earth

this is the place my family comes from.

Well, “visiting” by reading the books is definitely recommended as it’s one of the most beautiful fictional places to go imho. Get going by reading “The Hobbit”, and soon you will be half way through the LOTR trilogy.

... well, the filming location, anyway. Definitely worth the effort required to walk to the top of Deer Park Heights. Watch out for the resident goats, though – they can be a little keen (i.e. crazed) if they sense you’ve got food.

The picture is of me standing on – or at least pretty close to – the spot where Legolas watched the attacking warg riders crest the hill. (If you think the scenery looks all back to front, you’re right – they reversed the shot in the movie.)

It is in the middle of nowhere in New Zealand. The huts are really small (and no real huts), and all the decoration is gone, it was only plastic anyway. The bridge is also gone. But the landscape is very nice, like everywhere else in Newzealand. :) Ok, maybe I am not really enthusiastic about LoTR because I have never read it.
