Spectacular meal & comfortable atmosphere

My Aunt & Uncle took me here for my birthday last night. We had a 6 PM seating which seemed early but no one rushed us and we weren’t home until nearly 9. We started with fun drinks – I had the Limonata, a lemon margarita – delicious. Then we split a half dozen oysters prepared 3 ways – raw with mignonette, deep fried in a romescue sauce (roasted red peppers) and baked in a leek, prosciutto and cream sauce. They were stupendous and really prepared us to eat (we did hold off from ordering a second set!). There was the obligatory amuse bouche (a melon and prosecco drink with an edible flower garnish) and some incredible bread then the entrees arrived. We did share but my duck with sweet potato agnoletti and roasted pears was in a sauce so great I needed more bread to sop it up. My Uncle had ricotta stuffed quail on a bed of balsamic onions and figs and my Aunt had enormous scallops served in tagliatelle with a truffle sauce (also lick-able). We shared a bottle of Italian red recommended by the excellent server (Wayne – he is moving to Brazil so go soon to get him). And we even went for THREE desserts – a special pecan tart, a peach crostata and a banana napoleon – all tasty and surprisingly not over the top. We needed a walk on our arrival home, but on a gorgeous Maine late summer evening what could have ended the evening better?

Every year they promise to take me!

I saw the owner a few years ago on Martha Stewart’s show make grilled goat cheese and I have wanted to go here for a leisurely limoncello and a snack ever since.
