A tip I have about this place  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

For lunch, eat in the Courtyard Cafe – delicious and inexpensive. On nice days you can eat outside. (Too bad they don’t enforce the NO SMOKING rule better out there, though.)

The first time I went to this place  — 1 year ago

I try and go to as many art museums as possible when i travel. i went to the MFA 2 out of the 4 days i was in boston… the first day i was there, i saw an Egyptian sculpture that i had only seen in books and i was in awe- i think the security guard thought i was crazy because i stood and stared at every angle and smiled…

their Asian art collection is also amazing and well worth the visit if you’re into that!

Ok, I am not a museum person so this kind of place is not my bag, baby. But they have free entry on Wednesday nights, or so I’ve heard. I did like the Egyptian stuff there, though.

Fashion Show: Paris Collections 2006 (11/12): Sometimes fashion is funny  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

This exhibit is a fun way to pass a few hours on a Saturday – portions of the fall/winter collections of 10 different designers (Azzedine Alaia, Hussein Chalayan, Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, John Galliano for Christian Dior, Christian Lacroix, Maison Martin Margiela, Olivier Theyskens for Rochas, Valentino, Viktor & Rolf, and Yohji Yamamoto). My friend and I laughed at some of the outrageousness (a vest made of playing cards, a hat bigger than the seat of my car and less functional) and sighed at the beauty.

We each selected 1 piece from each collection that we would have as well as our favorite item overall. Mine was the Chanel black dress. I am still annoyed that we were not allowed to try on any of the shoes!

i love the MFA! i took classes at the school of the museum of fine arts and so i went to the museum at least once a week. Try to go when the musicians are playing so you can sit and listen to them while you read or look at art.

This is where we met  — 2 years ago

My sweetheart and I met at the MFA and I brought her back here to propose to her. Our twins are growing up as Pacific North-westers, but before they reach college age, we’re going to have to teach them about their “roots!” ;-)

Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

I have been to the MFA hundreds of times in my life! As a child my parents would bring me and my sisters here often. You can wonder through the halls of this place for days.

my favorite things in the permanent collection include european 18-19th center paintings, and also the paul revere silver :)

the new stuff that rotates through here is usually pretty impressive too.

    Impressive  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

I went to the MFA during my company’s annual party last year. It was quite impressive. DH and I were going slowly, savoring all the pieces of art and pacing ourselves to take the maximum amount of time but still see everything. But about 1/2 hour before the party was over, we realized there was a whole second floor we hadn’t known about! So then we had to rush around to see whatever we could. I’d like to go back again before we move away, to see all the stuff we missed the first time around.
