I spent just one day in the city center because its section called Meta is much more natural and particular. If you can walk on high hills I recomment you to visit the mountain tops surrounding the bay. From the top where the big metal cross is you can see the other part of the peninsula. The way is hard to find but I guess this is the most beautiful place in Sorrento.

…I came away with a mixed impression. On one hand, the scenery is impressive (there’s a reason why Homer pontificated of it’s beauty), but on the other-hand, its incredibly noisy and crowded. There’s plenty of shopping to do (if you’re into that sort of thing) and plenty more restaurants to dine at, which I enjoyed. The nightlife (which I also enjoy) is lacking, but Sorrento does make up for it because of it’s location. It truly is the perfect launching pad for Positanto, Capri and a number of other destinations on the peninsula.

I went in with high hopes for Sorrento and I must admit, I was slightly disappointed.

This is where my Dad is from (actually S.Agata in the hills behind originally) I have lots of family here and it’s a wonderful place and I have been many times.

The local buses are good but a scary ride around all the hairpin bends, Place to eat “The Red Lion” Leone Rossi up near the bus / train station sounds a grotty English place but the food and service is excellent and very reasonable compared to other Pizza Ristorantes.
