The last time I went to this place  — 1 year ago

...I came away with a mixed impression. On one hand, the scenery is impressive (there’s a reason why Homer pontificated of it’s beauty), but on the other-hand, its incredibly noisy and crowded. There’s plenty of shopping to do (if you’re into that sort of thing) and plenty more restaurants to dine at, which I enjoyed. The nightlife (which I also enjoy) is lacking, but Sorrento does make up for it because of it’s location. It truly is the perfect launching pad for Positanto, Capri and a number of other destinations on the peninsula.

I went in with high hopes for Sorrento and I must admit, I was slightly disappointed.

This is where my Dad is from (actually S.Agata in the hills behind originally) I have lots of family here and it’s a wonderful place and I have been many times.

A tip I have about this place  — 2 years ago

The local buses are good but a scary ride around all the hairpin bends, Place to eat “The Red Lion” Leone Rossi up near the bus / train station sounds a grotty English place but the food and service is excellent and very reasonable compared to other Pizza Ristorantes.

Sorrento is a fun town filled with great shops, decent nightlife and enough to keep even the most active traveler entertained. Has a decent transit system to make getting around the city easy.

The mopeds, the pizza, the gorgeous little square with the restaurants and the pony-trap rides, the $x%x!&* of a tour guide who left us stranded in the Drains… but we thanked her for it afterwards! Such a beautiful, lively place, and amazing scenery, particularly if you drive out along the Amalfi coast – startling. I’d go back any day.

to the italians, this is an enjoyable drink, to me and my friends, its pure liquid death. might be worth the experience to try it tho. sorrento is pretty, just like all of italy. i took a boat to capri, which was one of the highlights of visiting this city.
