Worth visiting!
A powerful event
We drove over today to my beloved’s alma mater for a 30th anniversary celebration performance of the play Zoot Suit. Luis Valdez - the playwright and founder of El Teatro Campesino - spoke prior to the show, as did activist Alice McGrath. Also present were family members of Henry Leyvas and cast and crew both from the original stage production at the Mark Taper Forum and from the 1981 movie.
