I lived here for five years. While it was not the most exciting place in the world, I do try to find something good in everyplace I live or visit (some places just take a little more effort :0) Spend a couple of years in the Midwest or Southern states, and you can appreciate the mild winters and dry heat in 29… and nothing beats those desert sunsets!

Altough I had no desire to go here and could not wait to leave, I do consider the high desert worth visiting (but ONLY visiting). I got stationed here while in the marine corps, and the sunrises and sunsets are very beautiful. The heat even though a dry heat gets like an oven in the summer which is made even worse by the view of Big Bear Mountain’s snow covered summit.

Being there you are more than aware that it is not fit for human habitation

I would suggest only visiting during the winter months.

i was stationed here when i went to my FROC back in the summer of 1997. memories of over 115 degrees in utilities, raking sand in front of the barracks. those were the days indeed.

Desert Paradise by TatGirl

I moved to the desert in 1997. Being from a big city, I find the desert to be peaceful, the air is clean, no traffic noise, many more stars, warm summer nights and being with nature. It was hard for me at first, but the desert does grow on you. It took time for me to get used to the heat in the desert in the summer time, but those summer nights are worth it. In the desert, every evening puts on a show of the most beautiful sunsets I have every seen.
