China Pearl

My band performed there for a three night gig many moons ago, 1997 I think, during the Jazz Festival. It was great, we were a rock cover band, so all the Jazz people were at the Jazz festival, the people who wanted rock came in and we had an awesome time! Owner gave us a free dinner the first night, second night he gave us dinner, drinks and told us to bring our wives/girlfriends. Apparently sales were way over what he expected during the festival so he was extremely happy with us.

The China Pearl is pretty much the only nightlife that exists on Friday Harbor. It’s a little scary at first but then you learn to love it. Locals mixed with whatever band is playing (my favorite was Badd Dogg Bone Society… they even came with a plastic bone that you could dance with, and let you sing on stage with them) are great… but last time I was there they even pulled out some belly dancers. Throw in some Maker’s Mark and darts, and the night is complete.
