Isle Of Man

I wish this beautiful island could be my second home! I loved everything about it: people, food, places, but most of all – the tt races! We stayed on the course in Glen Vine; we spent four days watching races from all over the Isle. We had a fish-n-chips picnic on the Irish Sea one evening, then explored the tidal pools while the dolphins swam just off-shore. Another day we had scones on the Sound (by the Calf of Man), then hiked along the coastline. I’ll go back every chance I get!

The island is beautiful. J R R Tolkien must’ve been on the Isle when he wrote The Hobbit. GO! Explore! Enjoy!

It was for my grandma’s funeral. She lived there all her life and my mum’s always talked about moving back “home” where she grew up, but for me it holds too many sad memories :( Trips over there during my childhood were not always the happiest.

They have windy roads and no speed limits. I would, however, need to rent a proper sports car.

I love the cats; they are properly cute ^^

When you live on the Isle of Man for 12 years like I did, the place just seems hideously boring.

However as soon as I left I missed the place! Gorgeous island. There’s nothing like looking out of your window in the morning and seeing the ocean, a great valley, and rolling hills all in one go.

As long as you’re NOT looking for a busy bustling place with a great nightlife, the Isle of Man is a great place to visit.

(Don’t say the word ‘rat’ while your’re there though – it’s bad luck!)

Why else does one go to the Isle of Man, to see the bike racing of course :-)

The Isle of Man is divided into six administrative districts, called sheadings. The six sheadings are Ayre, Glenfaba, Garff, Michael, Rushen and Middle. The sheadings form the basis of some constituencies and each has a Coroner. This office must not be confused with the Coroner for Inquests, a role usually fulfilled by the High Bailiff. A person may fulfil the role of coroner for more than one sheading at the same time.       

Under British law, Mann is not part of the United Kingdom. However, the UK takes care of its external and defence affairs, and retains paramount power to legislate for the Island. The Isle of Man had a dispute with the European Court of Human Rights in the 1970s because it was reluctant to change its laws concerning birching (corporal punishment).
