One of my favorite places in Italy...  — 1 year ago

San Gimignano was definitely one of the most beautiful towns I’ve ever been to. All the external architecture is pretty much original—beautiful medieval towers that still stand firm today. It’s amazing and beautiful and conducive to really great picture-taking. :D It’s also got a pretty sweet torture museum.

What a fantastic town. One of my favourite places in Italy. Great gelati, great views, great old buildings. We stayed in a mobile home at the camping ground and it was great value. So glad we stopped here and didn’t just come through on a day trip like so many others.

somewhere in Tuscany we stopped in a town with a pretty town square, and went into shops that sold all kinds of things that were fascinating to me and my sister as kids in 1989, but was covered with signs that said ‘bambini non tocare!’ (sp?), meaning, ‘children, don’t touch!’). It was so disappointing, particularly when the prices of things were underneath the items, so you couldn’t read it without picking it up and thus touching it.

Does this sound like the right place?

This might have been our favourite place in Italy. Rome, Florence and Venice were lovely, and must-sees of course, but if we were ever to go back, we might just skip those cities but make sure to re-visit San Gimignano.

Excellent views of the Tuscan countryside are offered by San Gimignano, as is the opportunity to buy crazy medieval torture instruments

    Going to Toscana?
    Go to San Gimagnano.
Take a wonder up to the tower, take some gogeous pictures from the top, eat some fantastic ice cream, and visit the torture museum- It’s almost worth the trip just to see the rooms full of metal things that were made to hurt people! it’s such a brilliant museum! Maybe one just for the boys, although the ladies will appriciate the pain involved with an instrument of tirture called ‘the Pear’.

Wonderful place. Had some great wine here. I would love to back. It was very interesting to see all of the towers.

I must see it  — 2 years ago

I’ve never been to Tuscany, but as soon as I get my chance, I absolutely must go to San Gimignano. The pictures I’ve seen of it look amazing: red roofs, medieval towers, and a jumble winding streets, all surrounded by the beautiful Tuscan countryside…
