A tip I have about this place  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

It’s perfect place for Snuffy and I to sit in our back garden talking about life while eating chicken salad sandwiches and drinking lemonade :-)

Snookie Towers  — 1 year ago

Worth visiting!

How can one describe the most amazing place? Let me just say there is no place like home! Snookie Towers is a place where Snuffy and I can do all the things we love together and just enjoy life. It is our beloved home. There is a Snookie Towers NY too :-P

I mean the Limbo where you are when you don't know where you are  — 1 year ago

Not worth it!

And thats where I am right now.

It’s awful, it’s cold, dark,, mean and spiteful.

It is not a place I wish to stay.

News: Yoga Group on Vox  — 1 year ago

Those of a more bloggy persuasion may want to join the group Yoga blog on the Vox blogging system. Vox lets you set up a your own blog in a very easy and friendly way and they’ve recently added a group feature, so you can post things there that can be viewed by the world or just by the members of the group.
It’s called Yoginis and it is at http://yoga.groups.vox.com/
Check it out if you’re interested and I’ll help you out if you need some help getting started with Vox (and I think that NYCinephile would be willing to help too).
Vox is very good at integrating pictures into posts as well as bookds and DVDs.

News: Yoga and Spirituality  — 1 year ago

I recently read an article on The Guardian website about how yoga has moved away from the spirituality that is at the core of the practice. It’s called It’s meant to be spiritual, you know . I’ve been thinking about this lately as one of the reasons that I think that I haven’t been as attracted to other forms of exercise as much is that there isn’t a thoughtfulness that I’ve found or a spirituality. With yoga I love the idea of balance and the peacefulness that it brings. It’s about the whole person and not just your body.

Recommendation: Rodney Yee - Yoga for Strength & Energy  — 1 year ago

Rodney’s non-intermediate and non-advanced DVDs are great for:
-> The experienced Beginner who is familiar with the poses
-> Physical Yoga (very little meditation focus – at least in the DVDs that I own) Practice
-> Challenging, yet attainable Yoga (minimum sit-it-out and gawk at the screen time)

I have these as two separate titles (Yoga for Strength and Yoga for Energy). On a single DVD they are a great buy if the above are what you are looking for.

Both routines are broken up into segments. So you can do one or more sesions when you are cramped for time, spread them across your day, or the segments within either of the routines all at once for a 60-ish minute practice.

Yoga for Energy is my favorite between these two. The Vinyasa choreography makes my heart sing. Apart from Vinyasa with my Yoga Guru Venkat, no other Vinyasa produces as much joy in any of the DVDs that I own. The flow here, is almost like dancing. The locales are lush Maui outdoors. In a few segments Rodney practices with one or more other Yoginis. The way this has routine been flimed (positioning of the Yogi(ni)s, synchronization, camera-angles, location) is breath taking. There is minimal instruction. Mostly, Rodney mentions the name of the pose and expects you to follow along. I love this. There is no talking to interrupt the focus and joy in my mind. A link to my experience with this DVD during my 43-in-43 days.

Yoga for Strength is shot indoors. The poses and sequences make it an effective strength building workout. Although the Energy is my favorite, I would rank this better for pose perfection and strength-building. Rodney is still strictly focused on cueing, bur there is more cueing compared to some of his other DVDs. A link to my experience with this DVD during my 43-in-43 days.

Discussion: Hello group!  — 1 year ago

I have joined the group as I would also like somewhere to continue my yoga postings and read about everyone else’s experiences after my 30 in 30 has been acheived (I’m optimistic!)

This is the first group I have joined so I am not quite familiar with how it will work but I’m sure I will figure it all out!
