Good friends live there and I can see why—comfortable, lots to do, huge immigrant population from all over the globe. Seems like a solid mix and match for those who have eyes to see! Easy enough to get into the center of Boston as well, which is of course always a plus. Wouldn’t mind going back.

Born and raised here. I loved growing up here, it’s near everything you need and away from everything you don’t. It’s changed a lot since then, though, and I’ve since moved to NH.

You have to love a working-class city that also has a large grad student/junior faculty population.

its proximity to Boston. You can just hop on the T and avoid all the other nonsense trying to get into the city.

I live in Union Square—Prospect Hill, to be more exact: site of the raising of the first flag to represent all 13 colonies as one, on Jan. 1, 1775.

... which is good in some ways (hip cafes, good restaurants, lots of culture) and bad in others (high rents, scarce parking). But the location is great, and if you’re willing to live with housemates it’s still affordable.
