Nice
We went to Freeway Park on the lunch hour on Friday. It has some cool features including manmade waterfalls and a native basalt rockery. We found some nice tables where we could eat our lunch then spent some time walking around the park. They have done a really nice job with the flower plantings including lots of brilliant impatiens, hydrangeas and other shade loving plants.

A review of this place
Small, dirty, smells like piss. The fountains and waterfalls are hardly ever turned on. Looks pretty in the snow, though. There have been recent efforts to clean the place up, and it’s definitely improved, but still a bit skeezy. Beautiful cherry blossoms every year. Nice place to grab a smoke or eat your lunch, but it’s not exactly a place to bring your kids. Especially not after dark.

Oasis above
Hidden oasis of green in the midst of concrete. Once inside you’ll feel lost. Definitely worth visiting, but don’t go at night alone.

nice, but sometimes scary
I live about 2 blocks up the hill from this park. It’s nice to walk around, and there are plenty of places to relax. It also has access to the Convention Center, so it’s a nice way to cut through when going to the shops on Pike and Pine.
At night though, because of the architecture it gets scary. There are lots of dark places for people to hide and jump out at you (even though I’ve never heard of it happening)

Freeway park is much bigger than you would expect, covering 5.2 acres of (mostly) I-5 and meandering from Spring Street to Union, and 6th Ave to 9th Ave. There are many fountains (that sadly aren’t often on) and lots of trees. Towards the convention center and by 6th and spring are grassy areas.
Its a very interesting union of green and concrete.
