Spent some time there as a kid. Once we had to walk back up to the chalet since the roads to town were impassable…I remeber trying to scale the slope behind the gouse ad sliding down around 300 feet ! Good thing I was so young or I would have been terrrrrified! My sisters and I hiked up the mountain behind the chalet and saw the most beautiful clacier ! I’ll never forget the ice blue colour! Amazing! L’guuile d’medi was incredible as well! I remember it was dec 24th and I was dissappointed that we had no snow yet! (I had never seen snow yet) . I was walking back to the chalet when it started! It was around 6 feet deep by the next morning! Ron (My step father and best friend) had a snowball fight and he lost his ring,. ..By a miracle I found it the next day in the snow! I miss Chamonix and the innocence and, of course, my step father and best friend, Ron.

Wonderful experience having a snowball fight on western Europe’s highest mountian on July 10th…while wearing shorts and a t-shirt. I was super scared riding the cable car to the top but felt like a mountian man hiking down the entire mountian (unguided). Very cool. The people were rude though.

Make sure you take note of when the cable cars finish for the day

Chamonix was in my opinion the most beautiful place in the world. My Fiance and I were there for a week in Summer 2004. We decided to catch a cable car up the mountain that day so we could play in the snow. Once we were through with the snowball fighting, we went for a trek to a lake that was in a bowl between two mountains. Unfortunately we overshot and ended up about six kilometers past the lake and decided to head back to the cable car to find that it had stopped for the day, we began the 2.5km vertical descent. 7 harowing hours later, we bashed
the snow off our boots and hooked into some great tucker at nearly midnight.
I was starting to calm down after our encounters with deer (scary horns included) and marmots in the dead of night. Looking back it was all very funny. Especially when we couldnt see shit so we used the lcd on our camera as a torch. Any way, we then decided on a day of rest, so we cruised around chamonix for a bit, anyone going to france MUST visit this place, its expensive, but well worth it. The following day we caught a train up the mountain to a glacier and went into an ice cave(tourist gimmick) that was quite cool, excuse the pun.
