Located in the “selva alta”, Tarapoto offers landscapes that are a mix between mountains and rain forest: you’ll be driving on a typical jungle dirt track but one that goes up and down, through mountain passes. Rivers are wide and muddy like the Amazon but as fast as mountain streams. An amazing place, slightly off the beaten tracks and definitely worth seeing.
