We ascended on 14 March from the Snowdon Ranger Path. It was cold and windy at the top, but there were a few peeks of the view. We went down the Ryd-Ddu path and had a well-deserved delicious meal at a pub in Ryd-Ddu.

Absolutely amazing!

i got half way through by erv2

it was raining hard with strong wind, we made a very brave dicision – go down. but before that, we made another disision – have a pinic first!

having been in the mountain for 3 hours, we got all wet. next time, more gear, better weather, we’ll be back!

We climbed one of the hardest paths up the mountain and felt such a sense of achievement when we reached the summit. I don’t think you could have the same feeling if you take the train. I was impressed with the woman who had managed to walk up the main path with 3-inch heels on. I couldn’t have done that.

Before she was 60 by sammylou

I took my mother up Snowdon last spring just before her 60th birthday, i insisted it was something she must do before then.

As she is not as fit as she’d like to be, we thought it best not to tempt fate and climb, even though it’s not the hardest walk as the path it pretty accessible to all. We took the train up which enabled us to get fantastic views of the area and chat with other passengers.

Later that day we went for a walk up to Devils Kitchen, which is nearby. That was a gentle walk but it took it out of my mum. We stopped for a while at the lake and Mum told me about her holiday arranged by work, here in the early 60’s. She was delighted to at last see it again after so many years.

We stayed in a B&B near Betws-y-coed, which is lovely village with good selection of places to eat.

Spectacular view by Vincey

And well worth the climb. Last time i was there, we walked up to the foot of the mountain, late in the afternoon, wearing jeans & t-shirts. Myself smoking a rather large cigar, and watching the faces of the preofessional hill walkers coming down. Obviously they all thought that mountain rescue might be required efore the day was out. Little did they know, a full on ascent was not on our agenda!
