Playing with Beduins
Several years ago I was staying at a beduin camp for a week and I had a real cold. While my friends were out on safaris and stuff I was left sitting at the camp, and soon became friends with the beduin owners. Most belongings they had at the camp were gifts they recieved from guests, and usually consisted of stuff like quirky masks, funny music tapes and weired toys, which we used to play with. It was like being five years old again. but fun.

Interesting Place
Mt Sinai was good, best diving I’ve ever seen moray eels, turtles 2m long fish chasing me…
It was a bit odd with the Army and hawkers everywhere however. Gave away sandwiches to bedowin children as they clearly needed food more than me…. Very Rich/Poor divide.
Would return for the diving.

1983, sand, snorkling, and native remedies
Beautiful place, best snorkling I’ve found in the world. Last I was there, lots of sand, smoke, and big pillows on the beach. Stayed in a hut on the sand on a 3 day visa from Israel. Stung by a sea urchin. Wouldn’t allow the native remedy of having someone pee on my foot and suffered for 3 weeks because of it. Lessons: If snorkling, wear sneakers in the water; if stung, go for the indigenous healing, pronto.
