I was engaged here
I grew up in Perth. I spent a few vacations as a youth on Rottnest Island. I had fond memories of the island. When I was 10, I left Australia to go to the United States. Fourteen years later, I went back to Australia with my girlfriend at the time. We took a trip out to Rottnest. We took a bike ride around the island. Somewhere on a jetty, I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. She said yes. She was surprised. I had been hiding the ring in my bag since leaving the United States (two weeks before).

getting back to nature
I had a lot of fun today. The weather was a bit cold so I did not go swimming. I wish I had taken my fishing gear though as there were a lot of people there with fishing rods. I also worked on two of my goals – eating more healthily and getting more exercise (no option here as I had to ride a bike everywhere) and I ate a really tasty chicken and salad roll. The highlight of the day was having the children see the quokkas. It was an excellent day out

Rode around the island stopping to go snorkelling at a few beaches. Fantastic day trip from Perth. Beaches are beautiful (but what else what you expect from Aus) and great for snorkelling.

As a child I loved this place because we went kinda often, and I was like 5. I went recently and it shat me. Annoying. But then, I’m a tad high-maintenance, so the bike riding and running around that I used to love got.. boring.
Don’t let this discourage you if you think one of the other reviews mentions something you like. Anything’s worth a try at least once. :)

Rottnest Island is a place of my childhood. its about bike riding around the island(avoiding the quokka’s), spending days on the beach & snorkelling in the beautiful waters. It’s a quiet, beautiful place.
