Gatlinburg

Just remember there is nothing I mean nothing you can do in this town for free other than walk and look… but its a nice place to visit in the winter time when there is snow on the ground

I went to gatlinburg to attend a friend’s wedding. The surrounding forest looked beautiful, but Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are tourist traps. Gatlinburg isn’t big enough to handle the number of visitors it gets. The street gets packed with cars making it very difficult to turn into or out of parking lots. If I were to go back, I would definitely stay out of town and try to enjoy the countryside, which was some of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen.

If you do find yourself in town, the aquarium is surprisingly worth visiting. I didn’t think I’d be interested, but I’m glad I got dragged there.

Its been a good 10 years since i’ve been to tennesee so im sure much has changed. What i remember of this place…. the mountains are very beautiful and i loved driving around in the country just staring out the window at the scenery and taking pictures of the mountains. I remember Gatlinburg being full of little shops and being very touristy, but hey isnt that why some of us go? Some days were very busy and crowded, but i got to do some fun things. Its a family friendly place with lots of fun stuff to do and see. You can stay in town or travel out into the mountains. You cant go and NOT experience the mountains, hiking, or caves!

Don’t go here on a two or even a three day weekend.

I am serious. I would give this place a minimum of a week to be able to do everything you want to do, because there is so much here. They have shops, attractions, dinner-and-shows up the wazoo…you name it, they have it! They even have rides up on the mountain that you can get to via a air trolley.

I liked the cabin and the mountains, but the town was a little tourist-y.

was a long time ago… and I plan to visit again, maybe this summer, and since I’m older now I’ll definitely remember more things and take more pics with my own camera :D

Beautiful, if you go definitely take the time to hike a trail in the smokey mountains. I am a sucker for waterfalls and the mountains offer plenty.

So much to do, so little time! This is the best place for shopping, attractions, miniature golf, game rooms, rides…you name it. Don’t miss all the Riply’s stuff: The Haunted Mansion, Believe it or Not and the Aquarium for sure! Great Ice Skating at Ober Gatlinburg, great food everywhere and a ton of shops. Yes, there is alot of toursit junk, but some unique stuff as well. I got every couple weeks…beware of traffic and bike rallys, also the car shows make it really hard to get around. Call ahead and make sure there are NO special events going on.
