I have heard so much about this place I must see it for myself. I am planning to go up there this July.

Use budget to decide whether to fly or drive by ninefigures

There is not much between Perth and Broome ~ to fly would be better, but if going from Darwin then all thumbs up for the drive~ get plenty of local road conditions , especially in the wet season.

Winjana Gorge is well worth going to see. If you like “Salvador Dali” paintings, you’ll love the scenery.

I have only been here once but it was the most magical experience. Broome is just beautiful and I would love to go back there again. The sun setting over the ocean, with a glass of champagne in my hand was an amazing and wonderful memory

i was here when i was 11 with my parents by dazzls

i remember meeting many sweet old people =0)

and buying a pearl bracelet.

and that everything closed so damn early!

I had a great holiday in Broome – white sand and bright blue water. A just away from the beach is the red sands of the desert, an amazing place. I highly recommend going on a camel ride along the beach at sunset, it was great.

  • travel.nytimes.com Introduction to Broome by FROMMER'S November 20, 2006 Part rough Outback town, part glam seaside resort, the pearling port of Broome (pop. 11,000) is a hybrid of Australia and Asia you won't see anywhere else. Chinese and Japanese pearl divers worked the pearling luggers in this isolated little town in the old days, and as the Chinese settled here, they affixed their distinctive architecture to typical Australian buildings. The result is a main street so cute it could be a movie set, with neat rows of Australian corrugated iron stores wrapped by verandas and trimmed with Chinese peaked roofs. The people are unique, too, because Anglo-Saxon and Irish Aussies and Chinese, Filipino, and Malayan pearl workers often married Aboriginal women. The Japanese tended to return home, but not all of them made it -- cyclones, the "bends," sharks, and crocodiles all took their toll. The Japanese legacy in the town is a divers' cemetery with Asian inscriptions on 900 rough-hewn headstones. (read article)
