A review of this place: Great bar!  — 2 years ago

Easily the worst pool table in Seattle… I think the surface is plywood ha ha… but it’s free! At least last time I checked. And Scott, the owner, has something like 19 days worth of music on his iBook which functions as the jukebox.

A tiny Kitsap within Seattle  — 2 years ago

I enjoyed drinking rainier beer here with Chadwick. For a kid from Kitsap, I think Georgetown holds a certain special kind of magic. It’s like the Indianola of Seattle. I adore Georgetown and the Hammer is a good place to compliment other people’s dogs, drink reasonably priced beer, and see your handsome boyfriend in flattering lamp light. Two thumbs up.

Felt comfortable  — 2 years ago

I just got back. Once I got past the menacing security gate at the front, I immediately felt very comfortable. There were a couple sweet dogs running around as B and I sat drinking Rainier beers discussing the apartment we had just looked at on the floor above.

Simple, old-wood, straightforwardness. My kind of place.

Closer than I thought.  — 2 years ago

I thought Georgetown was much further away than it really was. Despite my poor geography skills, several people had mentioned to me the greatness of the 9lb Hammer so I thought it was worth a long trek on an otherwise quiet Saturday evening. Turns out it’s not very far away after all, and a pretty great bar. My only complaint is that it was pretty dead on a Saturday night until about midnight (when the band started). And the lamps on the table are a bit bright. I’ll be back, 9lb Hammer, I’ll be back!
