tile rooster  — 8 months ago

    Worth visiting!

It was interesting eating with a gigantic tile rooster looking over my shoulder. I ordered the beef tongue so I guess it would have been weirder if it was a cow.

Had dinner here..  — 1 year ago

with Danny & Claudia before going to Young Frankenstein. The food is always fresh & well presented. I tried a “dry soda” Rhubarb flavor. I love the tangy flavor of rhubarb so I was a little disappointed that this was so sweet. Again I was the D.D.

This is a place we go to a lot with out-of-town friends visiting, or before a show, after an event. Consistently good food.

The food here really is comforting! The women’s bathroom is a great area, it’s like being backstage in a vaudeville dressing room. Six of us had a late dinner in one of the booths last fall & between 5 people drank 4 bottles of the Leonetti’$..we then walked down to the Pink Door for nightcaps & I had hot tea…I was the D.D.

My first visit  — 2 years ago

From the oysters, beer & cocktails, through salads, fondue and entrees, to the desert (creme brulee) that was so kick-ass that as soon as we finished the first, we promptly ordered a second, I loved this place. Better than Dahlia, though I like it, too. When my ex moved from PDX to Seattle, this became one of his favorite spots, and it’s a destination for me when I go to Seattle, too.

Once A Week You'll Find Me Here  — 2 years ago

Because for serious, eating doesn’t get much better than:

    -goat cheese fondue
    -butternut squash fritters
    -gigantic garlic crouton with lettuce
    -pear martinis
-and so on. Almost every time I’m there, I see Tom Douglas himself—eating, meeting, cooking—and if that’s not a good sign, I don’t know what is.

It can get pretty noisy and crowded, especially on the weekends, but I’ve never had a bad meal here. The goat cheese fondue is my hands-down favorite, though the coconut cream pie isn’t too shabby, either.

My ideal evening: seeing a movie at the Cinerama, then eat a late dinner in one of the booths at Palace Kitchen. I love their cheese plate and the desserts.
