Not worth visiting!
Yuck.
The waiters at this place, for some reason, are haughty. The food is “okay” and the wine list is overpriced. The people who go to this restaurant used to hog all the parking spaces in my neighborhood, and I hate the place because of it.
Really, Absinthe is everything that is wrong with the yuppification of Hayes Valley.

Sublime
My friend and I like to go here for appetizers and drinks. One of the more lovely things are the ricotta gnocchi dumplings with truffle oil. Sooooo good!

For a fancy night.
It’s expensive but I recommend it for a treat. Especially the Ginger Rogers cocktail.

This place gets my first...
Not worth visiting rating. I think it’s overpriced and too stuffy.

Great cocktails, great food
My good friends Kevin & Susan used to live in Hayes Valley in San Fran, a block from the opera and the domed Capitol building. Absinthe was our favorite place for quiet drinks (cocktails that are authentically fancy) and wonderful food. I’m a particular fan of the breakfast. There are many ways to judge a good breakfast, but one good indicator is the tea. Great hot tea, served properly with milk on the side and sugar lumps (without having to ask).
Do yourself a simple favor the next time you’re in SF.
