A review of this place: Torres del Paine  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

Torres del Paine is certainly one of the most beautiful places on earth. The reasons for that are the climate, rough but mild, the incredible variety of the landscape, the mountains and the wonderful blue water, and, the most important point: still only few tourists. Here you can see the Rio Paine and the Torres del Paine.

The main roads in and to the national park are unpaved. Most of the refugios can only be reached by hiking or boat trip. There is the famous ‘W’ trail, for the complete trail you need 4 or 5 days. The ‘W’ trail goes from hut to hut, a hut in the national park is called a ‘Refugio’.

For the whole round trip around the Torres del Paine you need at least 8 – 10 days. Beware, the whole round trip is a back packing tour with tents and only for experienced hikers. On the north part of the trail you can find small campgrounds but no refugios.

    Magic!  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

When I was here I wasn’t very fit and had limited time, but I walked the 4 or so hours from Lago Pehoe to Glacier grey, and it was beautiful beautiful beautiful!!!

I only wish I’d had more time and fitness to see the rest, and cutlery instead of the carved sticks we improvised with to eat out of sprite bottles cut in half.

I remember sitting by the glacier listening to the clink of iceburgs falling into the water, magical!

Why I want to go to this place  — 2 years ago

I am really drawn to the mountains. As you can see I have locations in Patagonia and the Himalayas on my list of places to go. I am very inspired by the images of Torres del Paine. It looks like an amazing place.

That’s how far from Torres del Paine I live. I want to drive there soon, make it a roadtrip. Have to convince someone to go with me and even if i don’t, i’m gonna make it there all by myself.

Top of my list of where I want to go...  — 2 years ago

I was looking for a place to vacation a few years ago and ran across the Explora Hotel Salto Chico and immediately it became the top place I want to visit. There are so many things I want to do, but I am pretty keen on hiking to Mirador de Nordenskjold. Someday soon…
